About us
Personnel Committee: With guidance from Board and personnel committee, staff set personnel goals for board approval. Prepare job descriptions for board and staff. Work with board chair in recruiting additional board members and committee staff. Work with Chief Lobbyist in recruiting additional legislative staff. Maintain a volunteer database to include appropriate volunteer skills and strengths. Provide general and specific personnel analysis to the board.

Development Committee: Research and establish fundraising, membership, and grant opportunities. With Chair and Treasurer guidance, prepare fundraising plans, goals, and objectives for board approval. Determine annual budget and funding-specific budgets. Execute fundraising plans. Determine key target areas and track key targets vs. actual results.
With Treasurer guidance, track giving record of individual donors and donor groups. Set membership objectives and track actual membership levels. Provide appropriate levels of thanks to donors relative to gift size. Determine grant objectives and research appropriate grant opportunities. Provide general and specific fundraising, membership, and grant analysis to the board.

Publicity Committee: Prepare and execute publicity plan with board approval. Establish and maintain a database of media representatives and other civil rights groups. Coordinate with fundraising and lobbying staff in issuing supportive media press releases. Monitor news media and other civil rights organizations' press releases for media campaign suggestions. Plan and execute educational events to promote LLP's goals. Provide general and specific publicity analysis to the board.

Legislative Committee: With staff guidance, set legislative goals for board approval. Work with Chief Lobbyist to review introduced bills and determine LLP's position on them. Work with Chief Lobbyist and lobbying committee staff to consider bills to be sponsored by LLP. Work with Chief Lobbyist and staff assistance to publish the annual Legislative Score Card. Provide general and specific legislative analysis to the board.

Accounting Committee: Work with the Treasurer to prepare annual budget for board approval. Track income and expenses. Invest cash resources for maximum return (interest rates, dividends). Pay bills as due. Provide spending cost control and cash flow analysis. Provide general and specific financial analysis to the board.
